New cruise line Explora Journeys is set to launch its first ship, Explora I, in May 2023. The boutique vessel will come fitted with a total of 461 spacious suites, with even the entry level staterooms—called Ocean Terrace Suites—measuring as some of the largest in the industry with 377 square feet of space. Best of all, every suite has a private terrace, furnished with daybeds and a dining set for al fresco meals. In its debut year, Explora I is scheduled to visit 132 ports across 40 countries, including a handful of destinations rarely visited by cruise ships, like Saint Pierre, Martinique. The 922-passenger Explora I is the debut ship of Explora Journeys, an all-new luxury cruise line owned by MSC Group, the Geneva-based shipping container giant that also owns MSC Cruises.

This Quantum Ultra Class ship also sails from Rome to give you a whole new way to experience cruising. Savor authentic trattoria fare with a twist at Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. Odyssey of the Seas℠ is primed to please every palate and satisfy any appetite. The yet-to-be-named ship will be TUI’s second ship of the InTUItion class and will be the sister ship to the Mein Schiff Relax that is slated to enter service in March 2025. The second in a new class of ship for Princess Cruises that will be powered, in part, by LNG fuel. Star Princess will have many of the same features as the first ship in the class, Sun Princess.

Viking Vela Will Mark a (Slight) Change in the Viking Ocean Fleet

The extra space on the two vessels has allowed Silversea to expand its lineup of cabin categories, with more large suites. But Silver Ray and Silver Nova offer new premium aft suites, including a massive 1,324-square-foot complex called the Otium Suite. Under development for more than six years and the first of an all-new series of vessels for the line, the 4,000-passenger Sun Princess is about 21% bigger than the biggest ships currently in the Princess fleet. And yet, while it's 21% bigger, it's designed to hold just 17% more passengers. At 250,800 tons, Icon of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built, and it'll be chock-full of more amusements, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues than any cruise vessel ever. All three vessels — Icon of the Seas, Queen Anne and Sun Princess — are the three new cruise ships for 2024 that have us the most excited here at TPG.

A new immersive restaurant, centered around the concept of being on a train, is being developed. What's also unique for the ship is that it will focus on short three- and four-day itineraries from its Port Canaveral homeport -- meaning you'll never be able to see it all in one trip. Canada-based Bridgemans Services Group buys and charters former cruise ships to turn into "floatels," outfitted with standard cruise amenities like daily housekeeping, buffets, and relaxing lounges. Adult-oriented spaces include the tranquil Central Park, the Empire Supper Club and The Hideaway with its suspended infinity pool. Among the cruise ships set to make their debut in 2024, these are five of the most notable. Uncover all the exciting travel activities and ideas for the best family vacation waiting for you onboard a cruise getaway with Harmony of the Seas.

This is an adult cruise line most suited to those looking for both relaxation and transformative travel. The World-class cruise ships, all powered by LNG and with MSC World Europa being the largest LNG-fueled cruise vessel ever built, are expected to be the second-largest class of cruise ships on the planet. Under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the luxury vessel is set to spend its inaugural season offering winter cruises in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Debuting in August in the Mediterranean, the 3,219-passenger Norwegian Viva is the second in a newer class of upscale Norwegian Cruise Line ships geared toward cruisers who want a plethora of activities without huge crowds. The ship has a separate complex for suite guests, a multi-million-dollar art collection, and dining options that include a hip food hall with a solid international roster.

The LNG-powered, 18-deck ship will be outfitted for e-LNG in the future. It will also offer new entertainment not previously seen on past ships, alongside spacious wellness areas. Icon of the Seas isn’t the only Royal Caribbean ship slated to hit the waters in 2024. Another new cruise ship from the cruise line, Utopia of the Seas is in a different class than Icon of the Seas, and it’s not going to be as large — but it is still pretty amazing (and what else would you expect from Royal Caribbean?).

Its latest Seven Seas Grandeur will be a third sister to Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor when it embarks in November. The ship’s maiden voyage will be a weeklong journey from Venice to Barcelona. Virgin Voyages third ship, Resilient Lady, is scheduled to launch in May, initially from Athens, Greece, and farther expanding to Australia.

Carnival Jubilee has the travel pros and press about as excited as cruise fans. Even during construction, we knew where we were heading with the big plans for Carnival Jubilee! So here’s your deck-by-deck look at where to find all the fun, and all the staterooms. We teamed up with Guy Fieri to design not just the burgers and fries, but to help bring in the kind of rustic atmosphere you’d find at a roadside burger shack somewhere off a coastal highway.

The company's three ships range from 150 to 652 cabins.

Expect lots of natural light, suites that offer 270-degree views, eight restaurants, and more. Yes, the ship is on the smaller side, but it just proves that, sometimes, great things come in tiny packages. Disney is opening its second cruise ship-focused Bahamian island in June 2024, Lighthouse Point, to cruisers, so Disney Treasure guests will have that new experience to look forward to as well. A sister ship to Disney Wish, there are a few similarities that you’ll find between the two. Both offer the same number of guest rooms (1,254) and both are LNG-powered. That said, there are still a few new features that give long-time Disney Cruise Line fans plenty to look forward to.

Note that in some cases, the new ships coming in 2023 will arrive months behind schedule due to ongoing pandemic-related construction delays at the shipyards that are building them. Thanks to these delays, the first sailings of a few ships that were expected to debut in 2023 — including Royal Caribbean's much-awaited Icon of the Seas — have been pushed to 2024. Among lines unveiling new ships that are sisters to vessels already in their fleets are Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Virgin Voyages and Celebrity Cruises. Rounding out the onboard amenities will be a scenic observation lounge adjacent to an events room, a spa, a gym, a beauty salon, a Jacuzzi and a heated swimming pool.

Marina Bar™ is an indoor/outdoor spot where the drinks are only part of the refreshment story — there’s also some great lounging to do! And if we catch you feasting your eyes on our Beach Buns™, c’mon, who can blame you? It’s a fabulous way to enjoy delicious sandwiches made how you like, or even a just-got-grilled hot dog. Brace yourself for Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with six record-breaking slides. The adults-only ship features spaces very nearly identical to those featured on Viking Star. Viking Cruises has found a formula that works for the brand, and they’ve stuck with it, adamantly.

But it'll be able to hold about 7% more people — 7,600 passengers as compared to Wonder of the Seas' total capacity of 7,084 passengers. The 82-passenger AmaLilia will join AmaDahlia to offer itineraries that begin with a pre-cruise stay in Cairo before joining the ship in Luxor for a roundtrip sail.
