Motion design in UX aims to improve the user experience by reducing the cognitive load and extending the capabilities of communication via design alone. Students have the opportunity to intern for design firms, publishing houses, and nonprofits as they work toward a polished thesis project.

Studio requirements include Digital Skills, CG Modeling, Directing for Animators, Visual Development, and Figure Drawing for Animators, to name a few. BFA students will also complete the Animation Practicum, Senior Capstone, and three Thesis Film courses. San Jose State University’s BFA in A/I is a professional degree that covers 3D and traditional animation.

The Dodge College of Film & Media Arts at Chapman University (Chapman) offers a BFA in Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) that allows students to focus in Animation OR VFX. The Experimental Animation BFA at Laguna College of Art and Design is led by experienced instructors who are active in the television, film, games, and internet animation industries. With class sizes limited to 18 students, the program emphasizes learning by doing.

Companies that have hired Academy of Art graduates include Google, Nike, The Clorox Company, Square, and more. Today, Cal Poly Pomona is home to a co-ed population of nearly 26,000 students enrolled in more than 100 degree programs across eight colleges. The school’s College of Environmental Design, Department of Art, offers one program for aspiring graphic designers—a BFA in Graphic Design. Established in 1880, University of Southern California (USC) serves 47,500 students enrolled in more than 200 undergraduate programs, 300-plus graduate programs, and more than 150 minors.
